We’re practical bitches- I mean witches. We aren’t afraid to mix magic and the mundane because we know you can’t have one without the other. We love signs from nature- we embrace omens, using talismans, and “telling it like it is”. We abide by the creed “harm none and do what ye will”, unless we have to protect ourselves- in those cases we aren’t above a return to sender spell. Our goal is to be benevolent forces of nature, like all the cherished grandmothers before us, while sharing our “everyday scared” experiences with you. We hope that listening to our stories evokes feelings of kinship and inspiration to live your life magically in the material world- and that in hearing our stories you realize you aren’t the only weird one out there enjoying the universe’s jokes and surviving its trials. Goddess Exclusive #1: Hecate- the epitome of "fuck around and find out" energy.

We're profiling a goddess near and dear to us: the magnificent Hecate.
She's trendy recently, gotten an unfair bad rep throughout history, and still continuously misunderstood. In honor of her feast day (Nov. 16th) we wanted to honor her by setting the record straight on who she is, when and why she might decide to work with you, and how to honor her even if she isn't your working spiritual guide. We equate her with a revered grandmother who you respect and know loves us all, but will kick our asses if they need kicking.
Formidable and equal parts mysterious, we felt the need to clear her name and clarify that any negative experiences one might have with her were absolutely a long time coming and well deserved. Like many fellow wise-women throughout time she was misconstrued as evil because she was a "difficult" woman. Not unlike Judge Judy, Hecate's not going to tolerate anyone's bullshit, and makes no bones about bitch-slappin' you into place. Her endless wisdom is evident in the reality that she could care less about being misunderstood, unfairly feared, and badmouthed. This goddess knows what her purpose is and rests comfortably in that knowledge no matter how unseemly her course of action may appear to us mere mortals; clearing her name is our initiative because we adore her so much.
If you've made it this far through the description, there's part of you that may be curious about her, or maybe you've heard of her but not from this angle. This is our love letter to her, because she reminds us of the most beloved grandmother figures through out history; wise, formidable, and most of all loving.
Happy feast day to the Queen of the witches, who is the keeper of the veil, protector of women, children, the disenfranchised, dogs, black cats, and guardian of those willing to find their way through the dark. -Blessed Be!
P.S. as an update, after we recorded this episode wednesday was cleaning her studio and found this photo of her circa 1994. encircled are two different women figures she's just noticed, even though this photo of her and her beloved departed uncle has been a constant visual since his departure in 2011. We both were shocked to notice the hooded figure in the far right corner, and suspect Hecate waited until after we recorded to show us as confirmation of her presence in Wednesday's orbit since her birth.
